Screenshot beautifier

Put a raw capture on a background, give it a window frame and a soft shadow, and export a sharp PNG sized for a slide, a README or a social post.

Small choices that make a screenshot look deliberate

  • Crop before you frame. A frame draws the eye to the edges; cut away empty sidebars and scrollbars first, with the crop in the annotation tool.
  • Match the frame to the claim. A browser frame with a real address says “this is live on the web”. A plain macOS window suits desktop apps. No frame suits mobile captures, which already have their own shape.
  • Let the background be quieter than the UI. A saturated gradient behind a busy dashboard fights it. Darkroom or Mist work behind colourful product shots; the bolder presets suit simple, mostly white UIs.
  • Export at 2×. Slides and social previews are shown on high-density screens; a 1× export looks soft there.

Questions

What does a screenshot beautifier do?

It places your screenshot on a background with padding, rounded corners, a drop shadow and optionally a browser or macOS window frame, so a raw capture looks finished in a tweet, slide deck, README or product page.

Which size should I export for social media?

Use the canvas presets: 16:9 (1600×900) suits X/Twitter, LinkedIn and slides; 1:1 (1080×1080) suits Instagram and many feeds; 4:5 (1080×1350) takes more vertical space on mobile feeds. “Auto” just wraps the screenshot with padding.

Does it upscale my screenshot?

No. The export is rendered at 2× by default so Retina captures stay sharp, but a small, blurry screenshot will not gain detail. Capture at the size you plan to show it.

Is the image uploaded?

No. It is drawn on a canvas in your browser and exported directly.
